Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I have tried numerous pizza places around my area and down town, but NOTHING beats Aurelio's. I mostly get it to go, but if you choose to sit and dine in the restaurant its a very warm, inviting, and authentic atmosphere. They have the most delicious, crispy crust and a slightly sweet sauce. My absolute favorite is the meatball topping-they crumble whole meatballs over the entire pizza. It's a spin on sausage. The prices are reasonable. Every person I have sent to Aurelio's is obsessed and says it's their new favorite pizza.

Don't worry that they're closed and moved across the street. This (and all the Aurelio's) are hands down the BEST pizza restaurants in the country......sweet sauce, liberal use of provolone, great fresh ingredients. I eat it every Friday religeously.....

A charming, family-owned business. Aurelio's is located in an unassuming strip mall that looks like any other, but once you walk in through the carved wood door, you're to another time and place. A large mural greets you inside the front door with beaming visages of the Aurelio family (I can only assume). It's a nice, homey touch. There's also a large photograph of a Gulf war soldier in the desert proudly holding up an Aurelio's t-shirt. Several walls are covered with Polaroids and snapshots of various babies, all future customers. I liked the dining area. It's dark, with dark wood paneling and stained glass placed here and there. The tables are formica, but have a red checkerboard pattern. And red and green Italian umbrella shades - the kind you'd find over a patio table - are suspended from the ceiling everywhere. Roy Orbison played on the stereo. GoodFellas came to mind as I looked around and took it all in. I get the sense that not much has changed since they opened their doors, and I like that. We all dug into the pizza buffet, which is usually not my favorite way to try new food. But the spinach and cheese pazone (or is that calzone?) was fantastic, and I liked the capers in the pasta salad. Yum! If you're in the neighborhood and you happen to appreciate the charms of local pizzerias, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Believe it or not, this location is closing at the end of July 2008, they are razing the whole strip mall there. They will have a take-out and delivery location across the street, but that doesn't help me since I live too far away to get delivery. I didn't find out from any employees, I found out randomly by the balloon lady who is there Fri and Sat. nights.....too bad, I guess I will have to hit up the Addison location for good pizza now (to dine-in, anyway!)
(3)Gary K.
I've been eating pizza from this place for DECADES. Like others, I miss the old sit down joint they had but "progress" has claimed another classic. (Of course the bad economy means that the land has been vacant for a long time... too bad, we could have enjoyed the place for a few more years) Anyway, the pizza is so different from the cheap a$$ crud out there, the typical chains and the mom and pop's. That's the point. It's a little different. Sweeter sauce, tasty toppings and always delivered to our door nice and hot. (We love the spinach calabrese!!!) What else could you want? Well, a return of the sit down restaurant that was torn down to make way for what? Another CVS? What a waste!!!

Great pizza. Bring your banker so you get the 2nd mortgage to afford it! Seriously $24 for a pizza? Nothing fancy either. Their profits must be through the roof after moving out of mall. Sure hasn't carried over to pricing. What is this a special "roll-forward to 2019 prices?" YET darn good pizza that we order often and would more if not for... the PRICE.
(4)Osiris V.
CLOSED - the whole strip mall demolished. Sad.
(3)Billy E.
The sauce is what makes this pizzeria so much better than others around it. I can't replicate it in my kitchen but I think its the addition of cinnamon into the sauce which makes it fantastic. Aurelio's is the type of pizza you get like once a month becuase the sauce is so sweet. I agree with the Spinach Calzone being great too. Newbies to Aurelio's start off with the pizza, you won't be dissapointed.
(5)Tony C.
Great place for pizza and not expensive at all.I recommend the Fiesta pizza. along with the bread sticks.
(5)alicia b.
I really wish that the Aurelios resturant would please come back:( I miss it dearly (sniffle sniffle). But its ok I still can get take out. Aurelios has my favorite pizza ever if I had a choice I would never eat any other pizza. The crust is so buttery delicious and the sauce is sweet and unique. The trick to Aurelios pizza is to only get cheese no toppings people! Trust me it s the only way to enjoy the masterpiece of their pizza.

Ordered aboit 110 dollars in food and nothing but 16 yr Olds running this place. They had all my food cold . Cold mozzarella sticks a d cold pizza. I just got back in town and going to call tonight. Not 1 adult did I see at 5pm on a Sunday running this place.
(2)Diane T.
Get your act together and bring back the dine in! I miss the old restaurant, and pickup is just not the same. What makes this pizza so special is the sauce. Kind of on the sweet side. Also good fresh veggies. The only thing that keeps us away now is having to pay so much for carry out.
(3)Armando C.
1st time coming here and I must say I wasn't disappointed. This place is very good! The pizza is pretty good and overall good service. The employees are were very nice. The pizza crust is very buttery and crispy just how I like it. Great pizza!
(5)Kalbiguy B.
Decent $$. Plenty of parking. Open late. For tourists, pizza's good here. But, you're getting the thin crust NY Italian style. Instead try the Spinach Calzone with a pitcher of Old Style. Holy Cow! For deep dish, go elsewhere.
(3)Ryan K.
Decent pizza, but their "garlic bread sticks" is really just garlic bread like you might pick up at Dominick's. The price is a little high for what you get and I don't think I'd be a regular here. I tried the Hawaiian pan pizza which was pretty good, but nothing special.
(3)Luke F.
great pizza and delivery service. grew up on this pizza and now we live in lombard and we will be frequent customers now!!
(5)Judy L.
I like you. I want to love you, but I just don't...it's the prices and the wait time. Last week I showed up in 20 minutes at the promised time. There was a woman in line ahead of me that was absolutely bat sh*t crazy! I guess she is a regular customer that somehow has signed herself up for the reward club and uses 4 birthday pizza coupons a year. The cashier, Katie (?), she might qualify as a saint for her patience and exemplary customer service. My problem is that I arrived at the correct pick-up time and my pizza had not been put in the oven yet. I had to wait and be subjected to Ms.Off Her FREAKIN' Rocker for the next 30 minutes while I waited at Aurelios for my pizza to be put in the oven and cooked. AHHHH!!! Nothing is more valuable than my time; had I know when I arrived that my pizza was not ready, I would have run across the street to Pete's Fresh Market rather than aimlessly waiting at Aurelio's. Paid $23 for a 13 inch medium pizza, thin crust with pineapple and then chicken on just half. That is CraZy! And the cheese was too gooey, not well done enough because it was probably pulled from the oven too soon since I was waiting there. The complimentary toasted ravioli for the loonnng wait, were excellent. Thank you! I will definitely be back because the pizza really is great. Sauce blend is just right and the pizza isn't too "saucy" which is good for me because I hate when sauce is gushing out from under the cheese.
(3)Ahmad N.
Love it. Best cheese pizza ever. Sometimes they eveb accpet coupons from the lake st location
(5)Morris N.
Great pizza! Owner knows how to treat his customers!
(4)Jean K.
For a $38 pizza, it better be good!!! Was average - at best. Ingredients are super fresh...I'll give you that. And your crust is super tasty. It's the sauce. Bland...bland...bland. Oh. And did I say bland?! Going to reheat in my oven with some oregano and garlic to see if that helps. It's Italian food! Can't just pull out a can of paste to make it work! Make it memorable and stand out! ~ Wasn't the first time we've eaten here and experienced the same. That's way too much cash to plop down on pie. Granted, we got the works (sausage, mushroom, green peppers, onions...no coupon/pickup..no delivery). But, still way too much to shell out when it's not worth it. And then to be asked if we wanted to buy an insulated bag...should have been tossed in at that cost! Not a cheap ass! But, if you're going to charge that much..make sure your product is well worth it! Otherwise you're going to have some pretty upset people that won't be coming back - like us! Will be sticking with the Pizza Nazi's at Rosatis down the street. Their customer service skills are far from the greatest, but at least you get a damn good pizza for the price!
(2)Daniel W.
Absolutely enjoyed the pizza. Had some issues with the online ordering process and my order didn't go through but didn't receive the confirmation call so I called them and placed my order. The cost was a little high but the quality is there. The number of people served per size is quite accurate too. Would definitely enjoy again!
(5)Carol K.
PIZZA! I know, I know. I eat out all the time and I get this excited about a piece of pizza? Yep. When it's Aurelio's. I eat it at least once a month delivered hot and fresh to our office. Pair a couple of pizzas up with their antipasto salad with that great dressing and you've got a crowd pleasing lunch favorite! Thin crust (my fav) thick crust or stuffed- their pizza with that "special sauce" is loved by all. And it's reasonable. A large 15" pizza with a few toppings runs around $20. Their delivery people run on time which is always a plus given if we are ordering food in at work- it's "one of those days". This location is take out and delivery only so don't go to eat in but check out their website for a dine in location if that is your thing. No need to say much. Check it out if you love great tasting pizza- and if you figure out what's in that sauce that makes it so sweet drop me a line! Drives me nuts everytime I have it!
(4)John D.
If this place is gone, I'll never miss it at all. I used to eat here from time to time and the pizza was decent but the service was HORRIBLE. In fact, I can't recall when they ever said, "hi" or "welcome" it was more like "do you need something" or similar treatment. I'm not a guy who harps on service much at all. As far as making me happy, it's not that difficult to do. This place failed to EVER do it. I would come in and ask for a menu (in particular for a carry out menu). After waiting for almost 5 minutes The staff member's reaction- "do you need something" (in a VERY smirky tone) as if I was an inconvenience to her. On SEVERAL visits to take out wasn't much better. The man who worked the desk (an older man probably late 40's or 50's) never spoke to me in a friendly tone. My last 2 visits years back did it for me. I remember this same man on both visits. When I came to pick up my order, I recall this man saying "thank you Mr So-and-So" or "have a great evening Ms This-and That" but when he came to me, nowhere NEAR that. His exact words- "what do you need pal"- no joke. When he did this previously, I figured he was being himself (slightly edgy personality- I understand that). Not a thank you or anything of the like. The last straw was simple for me. I would order a calabrese & that's all I ordered (especially after working late). Again, same guy, same nasty attitude-"what do you need" (at that point I was ready to walk out but I was hungry). I got my order & noticed that I got a pizza box (I figured they ran out of Cal boxes). I found out that I got a medium PIZZA, not a medium Cal. So I tell the man my issue and that my order was taken wrong. His response when I told him my order wasn't correct was "that's not what my girl wrote down" and that was it. No offer to get it right then or at least on another visit. I know people make mistakes but he failed to offer any type of good will towards me at all. So after these events, I haven't been to this or any Aurelio's since. The Calabrese is very good but the pizzas are not what I would put in the "Class of Chicago pizza" category at all. The food itself I would rate 2 (& I'm being nice) but the service a 100% ZERO. At it relates to taste apart from the Calabrese (actually vry good but not always fully cooked), skip Aurelio's and stick with Souffer's, Tombstone, or find somewhere else.

Maybe I caught them on an off-night, but I thought Aurelio's pizza was terrible. Given the mostly good reviews here, I appear to be in the minority. To me, the pizza tasted like plain tomato paste on top of a chewy plain dough crust. I couldn't even finish one slice. No flavor whatsoever. I was surprised because I heard rave reviews about this place. I have ordered from this place twice via delivery (trying two different types of pizzas), and both times I was extremely disappointed. Maybe this is the kind of place a person needs to dine in to get a truly good experience, but for delivery, I've crossed them off my list. Perhaps I'm spoiled because I lived in downtown Chicago for so long and grew up on Lou Malnati's, Connie's, Giordano's, Eduardo's pizzas and now nothing can compare. In any event, I doubt I will ever order delivery from Aurelio's again, although I may give them another chance and try to dine in. Anyway, someone recommended Dominick's (pizza place, not the grocery store), so I think I will try them. If know of any other smashingly good pizza places in the Lombard/Oakbrook Terrace area, please message me!
(2)Candice G.
Their motto is "Aurelio's is Pizza" and they mean it! If you've never had pizza at the OBT Aurelio's- you just simply have never had pizza. The sauce is delicious and the ingredients are always fresh. The Antipasto salad is HUGE even if you get the small it could easily feed 3. Their thin crust is the absolute best! You will never have a better pie elsewhere. I also like their spinach calabrese (pizza folded over pretty much) but I add American bacon and garlic and enjoy my slice of heaven. You can get their items to go but if you have time I recommend you eat it there and enjoy the welcoming casual atmosphere. The waitstaff are all very friendly and full of personality ; they make you feel like family (that you get along with). The bar is separate from the dining room which is nice as far as noise goes and boasts 4 TVs and several large dining areas as well as seats at the bar, an electronic jukebox, bar touch screen games, and of course- Golden Tee. The waiting room/ take- out area has a number of games for all ages too and on Fridays and Saturdays a woman makes balloons characters for children as they wait... FOR FREE! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. Just like the shirts say "it's in the sauce".
(5)Andy M.
After writing what the wose pizza in the area I decided to write for the best pizza in area. This place has been demolished and has a take out accross the street. I have been to six Aurelio's and no pizza place comes close. The sauce is incredible and this pizza is very unique. I have never come accross another pizza that even looks and tastes close to this one. The other menu items are good including their pasta dishes. I think they will rebuild another Aurelio's sit down place near this location so be paitent or try other Chicago locations. There is one in Lake street in Addison.
(5)Fred A.
I just wasted $35 on a large pizza with wings. The pizza was salty and sour with a weird smell. The wings had absolutely no taste. I'd rather order the garbage from Pizza Hut than order the sh*t from Aurelio's. I'm fuming and hungry!

CLOSED - the whole strip mall demolished. Sad.
